AN ORDINANCE relating to City employment, commonly referred to as the Second Quarter 2017 Employment Ordinance; establishing new titles and/or salaries; designating positions as exempt from Civil Service status; returning positions to Civil Service status; and ratifying and confirming certain prior acts; all by a 2/3 vote of the City Council.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Establishing New Titles and/or Salaries. As recommended by the Seattle Human Resources Director, the following title and salary rates are established as displayed below, effective as of the date shown and pay is authorized as of the effective date:

Section 2. Designating Five Positions as Exempt from Civil Service Status. As recommended by the Seattle Human Resources Director in the Classification Determination Report specified, the following positions are designated as exempt from Civil Service as noted below, pursuant to Seattle Municipal Code Section 4.13.010:
- One filled position (00016079) in Seattle Public Utilities Department; Manager 2, General Government designated to Executive 2 (Report #17-15815).
- One vacant position (10004092) in the Seattle Office of Economic Development; Community Development Specialist, Senior designated to Strategic Advisor 1, Exempt (Report #17-15827).
- One vacant position (10005108) in the Seattle Department of Finance & Administrative Services; Strategic Advisor 2, General Government designated to Executive 3 (Report #17-15859).
- One filled position (10005851) in the Seattle Department of Finance & Administrative Services; Strategic Advisor 1, General Government designated to Manager 2, Exempt (Report #17-15861).
- One filled position (00017204) in the Seattle Department of Information Technology; IT Professional B-BU designated to IT Professional A, Exempt (Report #17-15918).
Section 3. Returning One Position from Exempt to Civil Service Status. As recommended by the Seattle Human Resources Director in the Classification Determination specified, this position is hereby returned to Civil Service as noted below:
- One filled position (10001399) in the Seattle Department of Transportation; Strategic Advisor 1, Exempt reclassified to Strategic Advisor 2, Engineering & Plans Review (Report #16-15727).
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
