AN ORDINANCE relating to City employment; authorizing the execution of a collective bargaining agreement between the City of Seattle and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 77 Material Controllers Unit to be effective January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2015; authorizing the payment of compensation negotiated in the collective bargaining agreement; and ratifying and confirming prior acts.

WHEREAS, in spring of 2013 employees in certain City job titles certified to become represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 77 Material Controllers Unit, and;
WHEREAS, employees represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 77 Material Controllers Unit continued to work while their wages, benefits, and other conditions of employment were negotiated during collective bargaining; and
WHEREAS, collective bargaining has led to an agreement concerning wages, benefits, and other conditions of employment between the City and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 77 Material Controllers Unit; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. As requested by the Seattle Director of Human Resources and recommended by the Mayor, the Mayor is authorized on behalf of The City of Seattle to execute a collective bargaining agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 77 Material Controllers Unit effective January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2015, substantially in the form attached to this ordinance as Attachment 1.
Section 2. The General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the City Light Department, or the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer's designee, is authorized to use unexpended and unencumbered salary funds accumulating in the City Light Department's budget to pay the compensation authorized in Attachment 1.
