A RESOLUTION endorsing the final report and recommendations of the Regional Affordable Housing Task Force.

WHEREAS, in response to the growing housing affordability crisis, the Regional Affordable Housing (RAH) Task Force was created in 2017 to bring elected officials from King County, The City of Seattle, and other cities together with the goal of developing a regional plan to address this crisis; and
WHEREAS, the RAH Task Force sought the input from non-profit agencies, private partners, and other experts and held numerous community meetings to take feedback on the regional plan; and
WHEREAS, the RAH Task Force concluded its work and issued its final report with recommendations in December of 2018; and
WHEREAS, many of the RAH Task Force's recommendations mirror the strategies identified and being implemented as part of the City's Housing Affordability and Livability Agenda (HALA) adopted by the City in Resolution 31622 in 2015; and
WHEREAS, the development of additional affordable housing is occurring in the City as a result of the implementation of the HALA strategies; and
WHEREAS, the City joins King County and other cities in the region in their efforts to implement strategies that will increase the regional supply of much needed affordable housing in the coming years; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE, THE MAYOR CONCURRING, THAT:
Section 1. The City of Seattle endorses the December 2018 final report and recommendations of the Regional Affordable Housing Task Force found in Attachment 1 to this resolution.
