WHEREAS, the Arterial Asphalt and Concrete Program Phase II (AAC Program) invests in and maintains Seattle's 1,547 lane miles of arterial streets by extending their useful life through resurfacing and reconstruction projects; and
WHEREAS, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) uses a pavement management system to track the condition of arterial street pavement to develop maintenance needs, establish priorities, and select the streets to be rehabilitated each year; and
WHEREAS, South Michigan Street, along with several blocks of Corson Avenue South and a block of South Bailey Street (Streets), are all heavily traveled roadways in the Georgetown community that are showing the wear and tear of use; and
WHEREAS, SDOT is repaving the Streets to repair the potholes and cracks in the Streets relating to the Georgetown Arterial Paving Project, a project under the AAC Program; and
WHEREAS, before repaving the Streets, SDOT is grinding off a two-inch layer of the existing asphalt to evaluate the underlying road, installing new storm drains where water currently ponds, and replacing sidewalks and curb ramps; and
WHEREAS, the AAC Program follows federal accessibility guidelines that require installation of curb ramps in conjunction with paving projects; and

WHEREAS, property acquisition was necessary to upgrade the existing curb ramp at the north corner of Corson Avenue South and South Harney Street to me...
