AN ORDINANCE authorizing, in 2015, acceptance of funding from non-City sources; authorizing the heads of the Human Services Department, Seattle Fire Department, Seattle Police Department and the Department of Finance and Administrative Services to accept specified grants, private funding and donations and to execute, deliver, and perform corresponding agreements; and ratifying and confirming certain prior acts.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. The Director of the Human Services Department, the Fire Chief, and the Chief of Police are authorized to accept the following non-City funding from the grantors listed below, and to execute, deliver, and perform on behalf of The City of Seattle, agreements for the purposes described below. The funds, when received, shall be deposited in the receiving fund identified below to support, or as reimbursement for, the corresponding appropriations set forth in the ordinance introduced as C.B. 118530.

This grant will support the Mayor's Youth Employment Initiative, and will provide funding for approximately 35 internships for youth and young adults.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)

The grant will fund replacement of much needed Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) backpack assemblies and cylinders that are at the end of their service life.

The grant will continue funding for the current Bio Watch program in the Seattle area which includes reliable air quality testing and monitoring for 16 collector sites and special events as well as strengthening the response network in Seattle to counter biological terrorism.

These funds will provide for the SFD personnel to complete certification and activation training and participate in rescue exercise drills for the University Link Light Rail Stations and Tunnels.

                     Section 3.  Any act consistent with the authority of this ordinance taken prior to its effective date is hereby ratified and confirmed.

 

 

Section 4.  This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
