AN ORDINANCE relating to grant funds from non-City sources; authorizing the Director of Seattle Public Utilities to accept specified grants and execute related agreements for and on behalf of the City; and amending Ordinance 124927, which adopted the 2016 Budget, to increase appropriations to Seattle Public Utilities.

WHEREAS, human fecal bacteria is a major source of pollution and human exposure risk in the surface waters of Seattle; and

WHEREAS, Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) has developed a technique for using autonomous water quality probes and other improvements in microbiological analysis; and

WHEREAS, SPU has been awarded two grants from King County to implement and expand the application of this new water quality investigation technique; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. The Director of Seattle Public Utilities is authorized to accept the following non-City funding from the grantor listed below, and to execute, deliver, and perform agreements for the purposes described below. The funds, when received, shall be deposited in the receiving fund identified below to support, or as reimbursement for, the corresponding appropriations set forth in Section 2 of this ordinance.

Section 2. Contingent upon the execution of grant or other funding agreements and receipt of the grant funds authorized in Section 1 of this ordinance, appropriations in the 2016 Budget and project allocations in the 2016-2021 Adopted Operations and Maintenance Program for the following items are increased as follows:

Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
