A RESOLUTION recognizing, acknowledging, and thanking Mrs. Tan, Teng In-Chung and Mrs. Kao Tan, Fang Ming for their significant contributions to support homeless services in The City of Seattle.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Kao Tan, Fang Ming has generously donated $1 million since 1991 to The City of Seattle to support homeless services in honor of her mother, Mrs. Tan, Teng In-Chung; and
WHEREAS, a portion of Mrs. Kao Tan, Fang Ming's donations recently supported the opening of an overnight shelter located on City property at 157 Roy Street that serves highly vulnerable adults; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Tan, Teng In-Chung's compassionate spirit is an example to us all and the donations made by her daughter in her honor will provide much-needed help to our most vulnerable residents; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Kao Tan, Fang Ming called Seattle home for six years and we are grateful for her generosity and commitment to helping those in need; and
WHEREAS, The City of Seattle thanks Mrs. Kao Tan, Fang Ming for all that she has done to serve the community and carry on the legacy of her mother; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE, THE MAYOR CONCURRING, THAT:
Section 1. The City of Seattle does hereby recognize, acknowledge, and thank Mrs. Tan, Teng In-Chung, and Mrs. Kao Tan, Fang Ming for their significant contributions to support homeless services in The City of Seattle.
Section 2. A plaque honoring Mrs. Tan, Teng In-Chung in appreciation of her commitment to supporting our most vulnerable communities shall be placed at the entry to the 157 Roy Street shelter.
