AN ORDINANCE relating to City-owned property under the jurisdiction of the Seattle Department of Transportation, located at 800 Mercer Street in Eden Addition to the City of Seattle, and a portion of 8th Avenue North vacated pursuant to Ordinance 89653; and laying off, opening, widening, extending, and establishing a portion of Mercer Street.

WHEREAS, in 2009, The City of Seattle acquired a portion of 8th Avenue North, as vacated pursuant to City of Seattle Ordinance 89653; Lots 1, 2, 7, and 8, Block 1, Eden Addition to the City of Seattle; and Lots 1 and 8, Block 2, Eden Addition to the City of Seattle, all as authorized under Ordinance 122505 relating to the Mercer Corridor Project ("Property"); and
WHEREAS, the Property was placed under the jurisdiction of the Seattle Department of Transportation, designated for transportation and General Municipal purposes, and used for the purpose of reconstructing the existing Mercer Street/Valley Street couplet and creating a widened two-way Mercer Street; and
WHEREAS, the Seattle Department of Transportation has identified the portion of the Property that is needed for street purposes; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Mercer Street is hereby laid off, opened, widened, extended, and established across the real property legally described and depicted in Attachments A and B to this ordinance.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
