AN ORDINANCE relating to the Department of Parks and Recreation; authorizing the Superintendent to enter into a Use, Occupancy and Maintenance Agreement with Seattle Public Theater for the provision of theater arts programming, education, and services at the Department of Parks and Recreation's Green Lake Park Bathhouse Theater.

WHEREAS, since 1988, Seattle Public Theater (SPT) has been responsible for the presentation of public theater in the greater Seattle area; and
WHEREAS, SPT has been a recognized leader in artistic programming and community outreach to a diverse population; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) desires to have SPT continue to foster a positive and vibrant artistic environment for theater arts programming, education, and services for the general public; and
WHEREAS, DPR wishes to continue the relationship with SPT to maintain the delivery of services to the public at the Green Lake Park Bathhouse Facility; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Superintendent of Seattle Parks and Recreation or the Superintendent's designee is authorized to execute, for and on behalf of The City of Seattle, a Use, Occupancy, and Maintenance Agreement with SPT substantially in the form attached to this ordinance as Attachment 1, or with such minor additions, modifications, or deletions as the Mayor or said Superintendent deems to be in the best interest of the City.

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
