AN ORDINANCE relating to City employment, commonly referred to as the Fourth Quarter 2017 Employment Ordinance; designating positions as exempt from Civil Service status; returning positions to Civil Service status; amending Section 4.13.010 of the Seattle Municipal Code; transferring a position; and ratifying and confirming certain prior acts; all by a 2/3 vote of the City Council.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Designating Six Positions as Exempt from Civil Service Status. As recommended by the Seattle Human Resources Director in the Classification Determination Report specified, the following positions are designated as exempt from Civil Service as noted below, pursuant to Seattle Municipal Code Section 4.13.010:
- One filled position (00022791) in Seattle Department of Human Resources; Strategic Advisor 1, General Government designated to Strategic Advisor 1, Exempt (Report #17-15963).
- One vacant position (00010941) in the Seattle Department of Human Resources; Personnel Analyst, Sr.-Comp designated to Manager 3, Exempt (Report #17-16000).
- One filled position (10003625) in the Seattle Department of Transportation; Manager 3, Engineering & Plans Review designated to Executive 2 (Report #17-16105).
- One filled position (00026193) in the Seattle Department of Information Technology; Information Technology Professional B-BU designated to Information Technology Professional A, Exempt (Report #17-16223).
- One filled position (00018670) in the Seattle Department of Information Technology; Information Technology Professional B-BU designated to Information Technology Professional A, Exempt (Report #17-16224).
- One vacant position (00013862) in Seattle City Light; Strategic Advisor 2, Finance, Budget & Accounting - BU designated to Executive 3 (Report# 17-16260).
Section 2. Returning One Position from Exempt to Civil Service Status. As recommended by the Seattle Human Resources Director in the Classification Determination specified, this position is hereby returned to Civil Service as noted below:
- One filled position (10005828) in the Office of Planning & Community Development; Executive Assistant, Exempt reclassified to Executive Assistant (Report #16-16209).
Section 3. Amending Seattle Municipal Code Section 4.13.010. Section 4.13.010 of the Seattle Municipal Code, last amended by Ordinance 125242, is amended as follows:

Section 4. Effective January 1, 2018, the following position is transferred from the Executive Department to the Department of Finance and Administrative Services:

Section 5. Any act consistent with the authority of this ordinance taken after its passage and prior to its effective date is ratified and confirmed.
Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
