AN ORDINANCE accepting the gift of funds for design and purchase of plantings at four business nodes along Delridge Way SW as part of the Delridge Way SW - RapidRide H Line project.

WHEREAS, The City of Seattle, through the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT), is in the final phases of design for the Delridge Way SW - RapidRide H Line project (Project), and plans to proceed with construction in 2020; and

WHEREAS, through the Project, SDOT is partnering with King County Metro to accommodate operation of new RapidRide service on Delridge Way SW with bus lanes, transit signal prioritization, and transit amenities; as well as paving, bike, and pedestrian safety improvements that include landscaped medians and curb bulbs; and

WHEREAS, Delridge residents have long seen the Project as an opportunity to enhance the identity of neighborhood business nodes along the corridor, and the Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association wishes to make a gift of $6,633.52 to the City for landscape design and plantings in the medians and curb bulbs at the identified business nodes of Andover, Youngstown, Brandon, and Orchard; and

WHEREAS, the City has long welcomed partnerships with neighborhoods to enhance and maintain plantings in medians, curb bulbs and other pedestrian safety enhancements in the right-of-way; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. The Director of Transportation is authorized to accept the gift of $6,633.52 for landscape design and purchase of plantings in medians and curb bulbs at the four business nodes identified by the Delridge Neighborhood Developments Association: Andover; Youngstown; Brandon; and Orchard.

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
