AN ORDINANCE relating to City employment; authorizing the execution of a memorandum of understanding between the City of Seattle and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union No. 77 to be effective January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2022; and ratifying and confirming certain prior acts.

WHEREAS, a collective bargaining agreement between The City of Seattle (City) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union No. 77 Power Marketers Unit expired on December 31, 2020; and
WHEREAS, employees represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union No. 77 Power Marketers Unit continued to work after expiration of their agreement during collective bargaining, on condition that the subject of their wages continue to be negotiated; and
WHEREAS, collective bargaining has led to a tentative agreement concerning wages, benefits, and other conditions of employment between the City and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union No. 77 Power Marketers Unit; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. As requested by the Seattle Human Resources Director and recommended by the Mayor, the Mayor is authorized on behalf of The City of Seattle to execute a memorandum of understanding with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union No. 77, effective January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2022, substantially in the form attached to this ordinance as Attachment 1 and identified as “Memorandum of Understanding By and Between City of Seattle and the City Light Department and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union No. 77 Power Marketers Unit,” after the agreement has been ratified by union membership.
Section 2. Any act consistent with the authority of this ordinance taken prior to its effective date is ratified and confirmed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
