AN ORDINANCE related to the Cheasty Greenspace Trails and Bike Park Pilot Project and amending Section 5 of Ordinance 124546.

WHEREAS, Ordinance 124546, passed in August 2014, requested the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) to conduct a public process regarding the design of bike and pedestrian improvements in the Cheasty Greenspace, to establish evaluation criteria for the Cheasty Greenspace Bike and Pedestrian Pilot Project; and
WHEREAS, the Council desires to amend Ordinance 124546 to clarify the nature of Council's limitation on expenditures from the Neighborhood Matching Fund; and
WHEREAS, the contents of Clerk File 314317, including DPR's report on the Cheasty Greenspace Trails and Bike Park public process and evaluation criteria, satisfy the requirements set forth in Section 5 of Ordinance 124546; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 5 of Ordinance 124546 is amended as follows:
Section 5. Before approving a final plan for the Cheasty Greenspace Trails and Bike Park, which is proposed as a ((three-year)) 15-month pilot project, the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) shall complete a full public process and technical review of the proposed design for a multi-use bike and pedestrian perimeter trail, including review of engineering, environmental, design, and community factors, make necessary revisions to the proposed design, and report to the City Council's Parks, Seattle Center, Libraries and Gender Pay Equity (PSCLGPE) Committee. The report shall include a summary of the public engagement process and a plan outlining the method and criteria for evaluation of the pilot project.
