A RESOLUTION in support of the bid by The City of Seattle to host the National League of Cities 2025 City Summit conference.

WHEREAS, the National League of Cities (NLC) is the country's oldest, largest, and most representative organization serving municipal governments, with a mission "to strengthen and promote cities as centers of opportunity, leadership, and governance"; and
WHEREAS, The City of Seattle is a longtime and active member of the NLC and supports the goals of the NLC; and
WHEREAS, the City Summit is the NLC's annual education, training, and governance conference that is held in a different city every year in November; and
WHEREAS, the NLC is seeking bids to host its City Summit in 2025; and
WHEREAS, Seattle is a dynamic and lively city, offering some of the nation's top restaurants; famous attractions such as the Space Needle and Pike Place Market; and a vibrant sports, music, and arts scene to entertain and delight attendees and guests of the City Summit; and
WHEREAS, Seattle is home to both vibrant small businesses and globally recognized corporations, boasting the University of Washington, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and other leading research and philanthropic institutions; and
WHEREAS, Seattle is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States and is experiencing investments in public amenities and infrastructure, including extension of Sound Transit's Link Light Rail service, expansion of the Washington State Convention Center, and development of a new Waterfront Park to reconnect the city to Elliott Bay; and
WHEREAS, Seattle is a Welcoming City, supporting policies and services that include all residents regardless of immigration status, ancestry, race, ethnicity, national origin, color, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender variance, marital status, physical or mental disability, or religion, and encouraging guests of all backgrounds and identities to visit Seattle; ...
