AN ORDINANCE relating to the City Light Department, approving a 15-year franchise to construct, operate, maintain, replace, and repair an electrical light and power system in, across, over, along, under, through, and below certain designated public rights-of-way in the City of SeaTac.

WHEREAS, Seattle City Light is authorized to construct, operate, maintain, replace, and repair its electrical light and power system in, across, over, along, under, through, and below certain designated public rights-of-way in the City of SeaTac under a franchise granted by the City of SeaTac Ordinance 99-1043 and accepted by the City of Seattle by Ordinance 119907, through January 1, 2015; and

WHEREAS, representatives of Seattle City Light and the City of SeaTac have been meeting on a regular basis to come to agreement on the terms of a new long-term franchise; and

WHEREAS, comprehensive terms of such a long-term franchise have been agreed upon which are acceptable to both the City of Seattle and the City of SeaTac;

NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. The City of Seattle hereby approves a franchise for the operation of an electric light and power system by Seattle City Light in the City of SeaTac substantially in the form of Ordinance No. 15-1007 of the City of SeaTac, a copy of which is attached to this ordinance.  The General Manager of the City Light Department is authorized to accept the franchise on Seattle's behalf.

Section 2.  This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
