Recitals:
The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) oversees the installation, maintenance, and operations of the City's parking payment devices.
While card and mobile payment account for the majority of paid parking revenues, a small percentage (one percent or less) is paid by coin.
The Department of Finance and Administrative Services (FAS), through its Office of City Finance (OCF), has housed the Parking Meter Collections Team that has been responsible for retrieving physical coin revenue from paid parking equipment.
OCF no longer can maintain sufficient staffing capacity to perform coin collection operations.
SDOT's Parking Pay Station Shop already coordinates technician responses and manages routine maintenance of parking payment devices and integrating coin revenue collection duties into the Parking Pay Station team would ensure coin revenue is collected with improved efficiency. Therefore,
Be it ordained by The City of Seattle as follows:
Section 1. Section 11.16.480 of the Seattle Municipal Code, last amended by Ordinance 123361, is amended as follows:
11.16.480 Director of Finance and Administrative Services to collect parking payment device revenues((.))
