AN ORDINANCE relating to City employment; authorizing the execution of a collective bargaining agreement between The City of Seattle and Public Service and Industrial Employees, Local 1239; and ratifying and confirming certain prior acts.

WHEREAS, the previous agreement between The City of Seattle and Public Service and Industrial Employees, Local 1239 that established wages, hours, benefits, and other conditions of employment expired on December 31, 2014; and
WHEREAS, employees represented by Public Service and Industrial Employees, Local 1239 continued to work after the agreement expired on condition that the subject of their wages, hours, benefits, and other conditions of employment continue to be negotiated; and
WHEREAS, collective bargaining has led to an agreement between The City of Seattle and Public Service and Industrial Employees, Local 1239; and
WHEREAS, separate, future legislation will be forwarded by the City Budget Office to provide department budget appropriation authority to cover compensation authorized in the attached collective bargaining agreement;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. As requested by the Seattle Human Resources Director and recommended by the Mayor, the Mayor is authorized on behalf of The City of Seattle (City) to execute a collective bargaining agreement between the City and Public Service and Industrial Employees, Local 1239, substantially in the form attached to this ordinance as Attachment 1 and identified as "Agreement by and between The City Of Seattle and Public Service and Industrial Employees, Local 1239."
Section 2. Any act consistent with the authority and prior to the effective date of this ordinance is ratified and confirmed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned...
