AN ORDINANCE related to the Seattle Preschool Program; approving a Comprehensive Evaluation Strategy as required by Resolution 31527.

WHEREAS by Ordinance 124509, The City of Seattle (City) placed before the voters a proposition to authorize the City to levy regular property taxes, for up to four years in excess of the limitations on levies in Chapter 84.55 RCW, for the purpose of providing high-quality preschool for between 2,840 and 4,460 three- and four-year-old children; and
WHEREAS, on November 4th, 2014, the City's voters overwhelmingly approved that proposition; and
WHEREAS, Section 3 of Resolution 31527 requires that a Comprehensive Evaluation Strategy be reviewed and approved by the City Council via future ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Seattle Preschool Program Comprehensive Evaluation Strategy attached as Attachment A is approved. The Comprehensive Evaluation Strategy is consistent with City Council's expressed principles and requirements as established by Resolution 31527.




Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
