AN ORDINANCE relating to Seattle Public Utilities; authorizing the Director of Seattle Public Utilities to execute amendments to wheeling agreements between The City of Seattle and North City Water District and between The City of Seattle and Olympic View Water and Sewer District.

WHEREAS, North City Water District and Olympic View Water and Sewer District (“the Utilities”) contract with The City of Seattle (“the City”) for wholesale water supply, which contracts include terms and conditions of delivering the water supply through the Seattle Regional Transmission System; and
WHEREAS, the Utilities have wheeling agreements with the City to establish the terms and conditions of wheeling the water supply through Seattle’s Northwest Subregional System; and
WHEREAS, the City negotiated wheeling agreement amendments with the Utilities to meet their interests regarding rate predictability and stability; and
WHEREAS, the governing bodies of the Utilities have approved amending the Utilities’ respective wheeling agreements; and
WHEREAS, the wheeling agreement amendments meet the interests of the City’s regional water system; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Director of Seattle Public Utilities is authorized to execute the wheeling agreement amendments between the City and North City Water District, and between the City and Olympic View Water and Sewer District, substantially in the form as the agreements attached to this ordinance as Attachment 1 and Attachment 2, respectively.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
