AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance 125205, which conditioned the Seattle Department of Transportation’s 2017 grant applications and repealed Ordinance 118719.

WHEREAS, the Seattle Department of Transportation applies for a variety of state, federal, and other external funding grants to construct the transportation projects identified in the City’s Capital Improvement Plan; and

WHEREAS, the City Council desires to affirm support for large capital projects in advance of the Seattle Department of Transportation applying for external grants; and

WHEREAS, this ordinance does not direct or require that the Seattle Department of Transportation apply for specific grants; and

WHEREAS, this ordinance may be amended during 2017 to reflect emerging funding opportunities or capital priorities; and

WHEREAS, based on the readiness of the Roosevelt Multimodal Corridor project (also referred to as “Roosevelt RapidRide”), the Seattle Department of Transportation has determined that it would be a good candidate for the Federal Transit Administration’s 2017 Small Starts application cycle in September; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Section 3 of Ordinance 125205 is amended as follows:

Section 3. In 2017, the Seattle Department of Transportation is authorized to apply for grants for the following projects:

B.                     3rd Avenue Corridor Improvements (TC367370)

C.                     Accessible Mt. Baker Implementation (TC367800)

D.                     Arterial Asphalt & Concrete Program Phase II (TC367740)

E.                     Bike Master Plan Implementation (TC366760)

F.                     Bridge Rehabilitation and Replacement Phase II (TC367450)

G.                     Bridge Seismic - Phase III (TC367300)

H.                     Broadway Streetcar Extension (TC367240)

I.                     Center City Streetcar Connector (TC367210)

J.                     Freight Spot Improvement Program (TC365850)

K.                     Graham Street Station (TC367780)

L.                     Heavy Haul Corridor Program (TC367590)

M.                     Madison Street Bus Rapid Transit (TC367480)

N.                     Next Generation Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) (TC367430)

O.                     Northgate Bridge and Cycle Track (TC367350)

P.                     Pedestrian Master Plan - School Safety (TC367170)

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
