AN ORDINANCE relating to City employment; authorizing execution of a collective bargaining agreement between The City of Seattle and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 77 Information Technology Professionals Unit; and ratifying and confirming certain prior acts.

WHEREAS, the collective bargaining agreement between The City of Seattle and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 77 Information Technology Professionals Unit expired on December 31, 2018; and

WHEREAS, employees represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 77 Information Technology Professionals Unit continued to work on condition that their wages, hours, benefits, and other conditions of employment continue to be negotiated; and

WHEREAS, collective bargaining has led to an agreement between The City of Seattle and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 77 Information Technology Professionals Unit; and

WHEREAS, separate, future legislation will be forwarded by the City Budget Office to provide department budget appropriation authority to cover compensation items authorized in the attached collective bargaining agreement; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. As requested by the Seattle Human Resources Director and recommended by the Mayor, the Mayor is authorized on behalf of The City of Seattle (City) to execute a collective bargaining agreement between the City and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 77 Information Technology Professionals Unit, substantially in the form attached to this ordinance as Attachment 1 and identified as “Agreement By and Between The City of Seattle and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 77 Information Technology Professionals Unit.”

Section 2. Any act consistent with the authority of this ordinance and prior its effective date is ratified and confirmed.

 

Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
