AN ORDINANCE relating to eliminating neighborhood blight; authorizing the acquisition of real property commonly known as 213 South Main Street; authorizing the execution of necessary documents; authorizing acquisition by condemnation; and ratifying and confirming certain prior acts.

WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Resolution 31906 declaring the property located at 213 South Main Street to be a neighborhood blight; and
WHEREAS, the property has been vacant and not legally occupied since 1989 and the conditions of the building are a threat to the public health, safety, or welfare, including presenting a public safety risk to police and firefighters who may need to enter the building; and
WHEREAS, acquisition of the property by the City is necessary to protect public health, safety, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, redevelopment of the property is in the public interest and would address blighted conditions; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Acquisition of the following described real property is for the public use and public interest to eliminate a neighborhood blight. Convenience and necessity require that the following real property, situated in the City of Seattle, County of King, State of Washington, and commonly known as 213 South Main Street, King County Parcel No. 524780-0880 ("Property"), together with all rights, privileges, and other property pertaining thereto, be acquired:
LOT 8, BLOCK 14, TOWN OF SEATTLE, AS LAID OUT BY D S MAYNARD (COMMONLY KNOWN AS D S MAYNARD'S PLAT OF SEATTLE) ACCORDING TO THE PLAT THEREOF RECORDED IN VOLUME 1 OF PLATS, PAGE 23, IN KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON, EXCEPT PORTION CONDEMNED IN KING COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT CAUSE NO. 192371 FOR THE EXTENSION OF SECOND AVENUE, AS PROVIDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 50867 OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE.
