AN ORDINANCE relating to the West Seattle Stadium; and authorizing the Superintendent of Parks and Recreation to execute a 12-year lease, plus an option to extend, with the West Seattle Sportsmen's Club to operate the Roger Dahl Rifle Training Range at the West Seattle Stadium.

WHEREAS, the West Seattle Sportsmen's Club (the "Club") currently occupies the City-owned facility commonly known as the Roger Dahl Rifle Training Range (the "facility"), which is located at the Department of Parks and Recreation's West Seattle Stadium; and
WHEREAS, the Club participated in the construction of the facility in 1961 and has continuously occupied and maintained the facility at its own cost and expense since that time; and
WHEREAS, the Club provides valuable educational programs to Seattle's residents in partnership with state agencies; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recognizes the Club's many public contributions, including its delivery of firearm safety education and training classes; and
WHEREAS, the Club has agreed to continue providing public access and training and educational programs to benefit Seattle's citizens and desires to renew the lease with the City; and
WHEREAS, the Superintendent of Parks and Recreation desires to renew the current lease and continue the Club's management and operation of the facility; and
WHEREAS, a long term lease is often a prerequisite of the Washington State grant applications, and the Club plans to apply for state grants to improve the facility; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Superintendent of Parks and Recreation is authorized to execute, for and on behalf of the City, a lease with the West Seattle Sportsmen's Club (the "Club"), substantially in the form of the Lease between The City of Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation and West Seattle Sportsmen's Club attached...
